Second Grade

Second grade is a year of growing confidence, independence, and discovery. At Sisters Elementary School, students build upon the important foundations established in kindergarten and first grade, becoming increasingly comfortable applying the skills they have learned in new and more complex ways. As their abilities grow, students begin thinking more deeply, making connections, asking thoughtful questions, and developing greater independence as learners.

Second graders are also growing socially and emotionally. They take on greater responsibility for their learning and choices, strengthen friendships, practice solving problems and resolving conflicts, and develop a deeper understanding of what it means to be a responsible member of their classroom and school community. Throughout the year, our goal is to help students recognize their strengths, embrace challenges, and see themselves as capable, curious learners who are ready for what comes next.
