Parent Involvement

Parent Involvement

At Sisters Elementary, we believe that strong partnerships between school and home are one of the most important factors in student success. Families are a vital part of our school community, and we encourage parents and caregivers to stay connected, involved, and engaged throughout their child's elementary years. Whether it's reading together at home, attending school events, volunteering in classrooms, or simply talking with your child about their day, your involvement sends a powerful message that learning matters.

Staying Connected

Strong partnerships begin with open, positive communication. SES works to keep families informed about classroom learning, student progress, school activities, upcoming events, and opportunities to participate. Teachers share information about student learning and achievement through conferences, regular communication, and other opportunities throughout the year, and families are always encouraged to ask questions and connect with their child's teacher.

Families can also support success by making regular attendance and arriving at school on time a priority, establishing consistent routines at home, encouraging healthy eating and adequate rest, reading together, and creating an environment where learning is valued. Reinforcing school expectations at home helps children understand that families and educators are working together to support them.

Being Part of SES

There are many ways to be involved, and family engagement can look different for every household. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to attend school and family activities, participate in conferences and meetings, learn about what their children are studying, ask questions about curriculum and instruction, and share ideas that can help support their child's education.

Families may also have opportunities to observe school activities involving their child and participate in conversations and decision-making related to their child's education. When meetings or important school information require language assistance, SES works to provide interpretation or communication support so families can meaningfully participate.

Volunteering & Giving Back

Parents, caregivers, and community members are an important part of what makes SES special. Volunteers support students and staff in many ways, including helping in classrooms, the school office, library, field trips, special activities, and school events. These opportunities provide another way for families to become part of the school day and strengthen the connection between home, school, and community.

Whether you have an hour to volunteer, attend an occasional event, read with your child every evening, or simply stay connected with your child's teacher, your involvement matters. When families and schools work together, students benefit from knowing that the important adults in their lives are united in helping them learn, grow, and thrive.
